Get on your feet and dance for PEACE in Oakland!
Oakland Peace Center is a hub for many non-profits in Oakland who serve community members across Oakland and the Bay Area. Their work and programs are grounded in the values of equity, dignity and access.
As the "centerPEACE" of OPC's first end-of-summer "Mind + Body Fun-raiser," our ZUMBATHON® will kick off a multi-year, multi-million dollar effort to renovate the historic facilities. All of the member organizations raise the vibration of our urban community—let's help them raise the roof!
The ZUMBATHON® is a non-stop dance party from 11:15–1:45 led by top local instructors to get your heart healthy and your spirit soaring!
Instructors include Sharon Fillion, KRS-10, Judy Young, Jennifer Young, Fatou Kamora, and Sevde Sevtap Cevik.
Come in at 10 am for an Intro to Self-Defense brought to you by IMPACT Bay Area, and stay after the dancing for a video shoot for a global human rights project. Finish the afternoon up with a peaceful and relaxing meditation session facilitated by Seeds of Awareness.
Get tickets on Eventbrite or at the door—early bird tickets are $15 and suggested door donation is $25—but please give whatever you can to support the vision of this place of justice and joy. Bring a water bottle, a towel, and pack a lunch if you choose. Energy bars and merchandise will be on sale.
Zumba® is an easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired dance fitness party with international music and moves. No dance experience is necessary to participate, all age groups are welcome. Dance as much or as little as feels good, enjoy the music and energy and support peace in Oakland!
